Rio markers
Since 1998, the OECD DAC has set up the Rio markers system, consisting of policy markers to monitor and statistically report on the development finance flows targeting the themes of the Rio Conventions. There are four markers:
• Biological Diversity
• Desertification
• Climate Change - Mitigation
• Climate Change – Adaptation.

Sector Code
Sectors specify the area of the recipient’s economic or social structure the transfer is intended to foster. A sector is a 5-digit code. Multiple sectors can be assigned to an investment.
Sector Group
OECD DAC sector codes are 5-digit codes used to classify aid activities by sector. These codes are organised into sector groups based on the first 3-digits.
The first three digits represent the sector group (or category), while the last two digits identify the specific Creditor Reporting System (CRS) purpose code within that group.
For example, 112 represents the sector group Basic Education, and 11220 is the specific sector code for Primary Education. Similarly, 121 represents General Health, while 12182 refers to Medical research.
Significant Objective
Significant (secondary) policy objectives are those which, although important, are not one of the principal reasons for undertaking the activity.
Spend
The amount of expenditure recorded for the specified financial year. The Australian Government records expenditure using the accrual accounting method in line with Australian financial reporting requirements. Spend at the investment level displayed on AusDevPortal primarily reflects this method. The OECD DAC requires that international reporting of Official Development Assistance uses the cash accounting method. Adjustments are applied at either an aggregate level or on some specific transactions to ensure reporting of total Australian ODA meets this requirement. For loans, “spend” represents the grant equivalent (concessional component) of the loan, calculated in accordance with the OECD DAC Statistical Reporting Directives.
Status
The activity status of the investment as at the end of the reporting period, e.g. Implementation, Closed.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is made up of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – a roadmap for global development efforts to 2030 and beyond.
Tier 2 Results
Tier 2 reporting provides results and narrative case studies against a set of quantitative and qualitative measures used to provide results and narrative case studies to track performance against Australia’s contribution to development (Tier 2 of the three-tier performance structure of Australia’s International Development Policy Performance and Delivery Framework).
Total estimated investment value
An estimate of an investment’s total value based on available data at publication. This is not a commitment or fixed budget and may change over time.
