Progressive, responsible and respectful

We work with partners and communities to build resilience and readiness and reduce the impact of crises when they strike.

We stand ready to help partners respond to crises and disasters when requested, supporting those most affected.

We use our multilateral engagement to advocate for reforms that will help the humanitarian system adapt and become more effective into the future.

Our support is coordinated and guided by the humanitarian principles of humanity, impartiality, independence, and neutrality, and by international humanitarian law.

Core to our approach is a focus on gender equality, social inclusion and locally led action, ensuring diverse participation and leadership.

Rohingya refugees and host communities in Bangladesh

Australia is committed to addressing the shared global challenge of displacement and supporting long-term needs in protracted crises. We are one of the largest donors providing life-saving assistance to displaced and conflict-affected people in Bangladesh, including host communities.
